fenboy
Deer are still fairly uncommon in my part of the fens , but sightings are getting more common by the year. I was out in the garden today when I noticed something moving about the bottom of the field , I grabbed my binoculars and it turned out to be the biggest Muntjac I have ever seen , the buck was huge with a fine head on him and an almost black coat. Sorry the picture is not great but it was around 300 yards away.

JDog
If it was that far away it must have been 9' high and 12' long. Shoot it and try to squeeze it in your trophy room.

Despite having plenty of room in the trophy room , I would much rather watch him .
Big Mat
I've seen quite a few out the back of mine over the last few years, know there is a few in West Lynn as well. We had one coming into the gardens last year until some sod ran it over one morning and left it on the side of the road, i'd have taken it but i was then getting a lift to work
garden gun
Be careful what you wish for guys. They and Sika and Roe are common as muck round here. Plod will not speak up but deer impact or swerve to avoid "bambi" are a major cause of road accidents/deaths - particularly with younger drivers. Agree lovely to watch, but haunch marinaded in red wine and juniper then slow roasted........................................
fenboy
I think it will cause major issues if the deer population get too large in this area , as safe backstops are few and far between , I guess shooting would be mainly be from highseats. I did disturb 12 roe in a orchard on one of my permissions last year and the year before that I had a fallow wandering over the same field I took the muntjac picture , god knows where it came from !
