Lord Geordie
As well as the Powder I got recently! I was given a tin full of primers! Like no other primers I have seen before Anybody know what they are? No real use to Me, but would be interested to know a bit more about them! Thanks! Pic of New primer left and old right! snarepeg
Left one with green end looks like an old type Fiochy, is it smaller diameter than a 209.? Small one could be an old Eley type, ? John
Lord Geordie
The green tip IS a Fiocchi I wasn't sure about the other! I was wondering if it was for an old paper cartridge with low base wad, hence the shortness? As I say they are useless to Me but I want to find out what they were! Thanks for the info so far
Lord Geordie
I am unsure if the Dent in the back is for an Anvil? I have heard of OLD primers that had no anvil, due to the fact the anvil was actually already in the cartridge or case! Wonder if these are that type? Lord Geordie
So they are pre 60s then perhaps? Thinking about the dent in the back! That could the rear of the primer forming the anvil I guess? I don't think they are deep enough to use in modern deep base shells. Is there anybody on here loads old paper carts wants them? If you can pick them up you can have them free of charge! Shame to see them go to waste! Without counting I would guess there is about 50 of them! kent
Not unlikely that they are old type with highly corrosive residue
