Catweazle
I have a fairly hefty scope on my .308 Ruger M77, and it's moving in the rings under recoil. The rings are as tight as I feel happy with, and I can't just try another set of rings as they are specially made for the rifle. Does anyone know of a source for thin rubber sheet, or similar, that might stop the scope slipping ? All I have is self-amalgamating tape and that's too thick I think. The rings came with the rifle and had a layer of insulating tape in them, so the previous owner probably had the same issue, but I don't think insulating tape will be grippy enough. maddog546
Try film negative as you only need to increase the frictional grip without twisting the tube

Underdog
Fine wet n' dry lining the rings. Or oil stone a few thou off the ring.
