Chunky pidgeon
Hi; the farm on which I have permission has planted spring beans, the pigeons didn't seem interested when drilled so do they prefer this crop as the shoots start to break through and show? I have not shot over beans before so any advice on best time would be very much appreciated. Thanks chunky.
JDog
Last year it was 8 days before the pigeons got onto any of my bean fields. I was beginning to worry that they may not find them at all.
pigeonblasterian
The best time is usually when they are harvested. So you might have to wait a while.

cocknee
It depends weather the drill has left any beans for the pigeons if there are none on top then it is unlikely you will shoot any. Go and have a walk across the field and see if you can find any beans on top if you can't then the pigeons probably won't.

I would agree with this, although I shot over 80 on drilled beans a few years back and I couldn't find a single bean in sight. On Saturday when I shot 66 on drilled barley I also couldn't find a grain on the field.
