Will Poon
Can some one tell me the difference between these 2 major competitions that are on the CPSA website, British open English sporting and English open English sporting Thanks
welshwarrior
British open is sociable and invites us Celtic nations to play English open is a full bunch of dull English men

V8 90
Hopefully I'll be shooting 1 or both of them next year - need to get lots of practise in, join the CPSA & get some scores in first
PhilR
Each home country association run their own national championship in each discipline and the British championship for domestic disciplines is rotated around each home country, provided they wish to run it. beretta
And anyone can enter and win any of them. You don't have to be English to win it.
George's Dad
The British Open Sporting has been 120 targets the last couple of years - certainly at Hepworth Hall last year, and Hodnet the year before. It's the same this year as well. Also, the Inter-Regional team competition runs alongside the main event at the British. There are other differences. Will Poon
It's held at garlands this year on August 28th Thursday ,29th Friday and 30th Saturday . Do you just pick a day and time then shoot and hope for the best ?
PhilR
Doesn't the CPSA website have all the details on it. I notice in this month's issue of Pull! magazine there's some championship entry forms, perhaps the one for the British Open is in a previous issue. George's Dad
It's also on the Sunday (31st) as well. This might be a good place to look to book on - https://championships.cpsa.co.uk/ Not sure what you mean about hoping for the best.
Will Poon
Erm sort of I've gone as far as choosing a squad and peg number then the usual stuff of name address , DOB , but My class may change in May as it's asking for it on the application form. I think i'll give the CPSA a call tomorrow . Hope for the best , i.e how well you do in the comp Yep I didn't scroll down enough to see Sunday Edited March 25, 2014 by Willpoon
George's Dad
I wouldn't get too hung up on your shooting Class - if you have one, fine - you will basically be competing against others in the same one. If you don't currently have a Class, you will be classed 'on the day', and there is a set formula for arriving at this - worked out on your performance over a set number of pre-determined Stands if memory serves me right. Either way you will a) enjoy the experience or b) get a reality check! Usually the latter for me.
welshwarrior
Well if it's garlands I'll try and get there.
Will Poon
I'm wanting to enter it just to have the experience to shoot the event especially it's held on a weekday as well, my ego won't be bruised if I come last as I'm not one of those "top" shots that has something to prove. 100milesaway
Give it a go Will. You definatly won't come last. You need to arrive at the shoot at least an hour before to register and pick up your back number. Then you will be advised which stand you will be starting on . You will be squaded with 5 other people and the squad always rotates so you all get your turn to go first. I always like to take pot luck on who I shoot with and don't mind shooting with strangers, they soon are your mates by the end of the day.If you are shooting in the area on the Sunday at another shoot ,try to go back and watch some of the names as they shoot, you can learn loads that way and it cost nothing for the experiance, from Auntie.
