nick13
Hi There, I was talking to a mate at work the other day about shooting etc, and we got on the subjuct of children shooting. I said I was going to get a 410 for my daughter at some point for her to have a go with, as she shoots air rifles and enjoys it.To which he replied I've got one you can have, if you want it? Yes please I said, he said Trouble is it isn't registered on my license! I believe one of his friends who doesn't shoot, father died and the son gave it to him and he never registered it! Now..... how would I go about transfering this gun to me? and/or is it wise to do so? Thanks
TIGHTCHOKE
Take it to your friendly RFD and hand it in as a found weapon, he will then check it over, list it on his books and can sell it to you for a token fee for his trouble. Ever so easy to do.
Richo85
Same as above, RFD all the way..just to be on the safe side. You never know with some police authorities, some are very good and understanding and others can be a real pain in the a*#e.. Atb
ditchman
im talking as devils acvocate here..............surely to be in possesion of an unregistered firearm is an offence....which by you accepting it would be an offence and he offering and being in posesesion is an offence........and also the lads father having access to it and handing it over other than to a RFD or police is yet another offence for christ sake speak to a RFD before you accept it............ HDAV
Person in possesion would have to hand it in to RFD I got one this way was more hassle than gun was worth but friendly RFD is best to advise

I really don't think the police would give a toss, otherwise every person that ever hands in a gun found in the loft of a dead relative could be arrested for something. It isn't proportionate, it isn't reasonable and it isn't justified. Just take it to an RFD as suggested then let police know. If anything they should be grateful the whereabouts of an unregistered firearm are now known.
