aris
The video is a bit long winded - but interesting results nonetheless. Pellet drop vs retained energy. Edited April 28, 2014 by aris
evo
very interesting indeed although I must be honest I didn,t learn much as I have done this sort of test myself but without the chrono,, I certainly would not use .22 bis mags in a sub 12ftlb air rifle but certainly would in fac, nice also to see a woman spending some time researching just what the difference was between .22 and .177 pellets, some of the airgun super shooters on here could do with watching it and then they might start to change there 60yrd pop shot attitudes on rabbits because as all could see who have watched the video, its not as easy as it looks and that was only out to 50yrds, thanks for sharing and certainly enjoyed watching it and telling myself " and that's with a pcp" and theres people on this forum who brag about putting pellet on pellet at 40yrds and killing rabbits at 60 and 70yrds with a springer still waiting for someone to put up a video of it being done, cheers Evo
aris
Do Bisley Magnums have any practical use besides doing a chono to make sure your gun doesn't go over the legal limit?

They will only raise power in a PCP in a spring gun the highest kinetic energy is created with lighter pellets. Yes, they do when used in FAC rated guns as per their design brief wind, retained energy and accuracy are all generally improved. It might have been good to see both guns proved equal in power at PBR and the bore to scope settings mentioned

Seldom I suspect for sub 12ft lb., even in FAC, from my experience, they come into their own at 30+ ft lb, up to that I find best overall performers are AA Field (or equivalents). The Bisley mag are well made but heavy, they are stable at higher powers (unlike some other pellets) and repeatable, a good pellet, but you need the right tool and application. I read somewhere that is what the police use to test if your gun is over the limit.
shootgun
I read somewhere that is what the police use to test if your gun is over the limit. Not necesarily, they usually use any heavy pellet who can make your gun to creep up in power. I'm using Bisley Magnum in .177 sub 12lbs PCP for hunting and they are awesome. Hard hitting and very accurate.

I would have thought there would be a accepted benchmark standard pellet weight.
