The Sniper
Highdowns, If this is EMTEC you are talking about I got a pair at the Midland game fair this year. They squirt foam or something into your ears and take the mould away with them for the real ones to be made. I got mine back in a fortnight. They are fiddly at first to use but once you get used to them they are easy. I prefer them to my electronic headphones as they are easier to carry, the headphones dont get turned on by accident and you loose the battery power and once you have them in it is just like you aren't wearing them...so comfortable. Would it be worth waiting till they are at one of the early Game fairs ? Brace yourself when I tell you this.........they were £60.
highdowns hunter
Sniper, Thanks for the info, That is the type im looking for, I just wondered how they measured you for them as I dont want to travel to their lab, As far as the price goes I was expecting around £140 to £180 so the £60 is a bonus Thanks Again HH
The Sniper
Highdowns, The £60 was a special they did for the game fair. I can't see any way to overcome the fitting problem unless you travel to them or wait for a gamefair. Have you managed to get hold of them yet ? If not let me know and I will dig their details out. In fact i may still have their salesmans card somewhere with his mobile on it. The service was very helpful and efficient.
Cranfield
I have PMed HH, with the info. They gave me a choice of several local Ear Clinics, to go and get "measured" at. The actual ear pieces arrived about 10 days after then. Cost was about £60 a couple of years ago.
highdowns hunter
Cranfield,/ Sniper I got your PM Thanks a lot I will give them a call when I get back from Algeria. I really need to give these a try as I have had Big problems with my hearing over the past few months. I have ringing in one ear and someone revving a motorbike in the other I have the electronic ear muffs but these are not really much use when walking the fields as they are cumbersome and uncomfortable. Just a note for some of the younger members here Please use hearing protection before its too late whether it is at work or when shooting as going deaf is not recommended :yp:
ernyha
Just a note for some of the younger members here Please use hearing protection before its too late whether it is at work or when shooting as going deaf is not recommended :yp: Very good advice HH but when we were younger the attitude was usually one of "it won,t happen to me" and as a result we don,t take precautions until it is too late. For my own part i now have constant ringing in both ears and when in a room which has background noise, i find it difficult to keep up a conversation with people near to me.This is partly as a result of getting older i know but has been greatly aggravated by neglecting to take necessary precautions with my hearing at an earlier age. Younger shooters take heed, it will affect you later on if you don,t protect your ears now and that is a fact not a maybe.
highdowns hunter
Just phoned EMTEC and got a very good response from them, They have as you say Cranfield, Ear clinics all over the country My Nearest will be Redcar, so I will visit when i get home at the end of Jan I only hope that this type of Ear protection does the trick otherwise the guns will have to go :yp: Ern you have the exact same symptoms as me and like you say we did not take precautions in those days. Thanks again for all your Help HH
