Cotswold meet.

There is, yes, the Cotswold Foodie Event is actually next weekend, and I'm afraid it was invitation only (to previous members and the odd +1) this year due mainly to limits on accommodation.

However, we accept that we do not have a monopoly on meetings and events in the area neither do we on the 'Cotswolds meet' name, therefore I'm sure many of us would welcome suggestions from other people if they wish to arrange something in the area, be it going clay shooting, fishing, meeting for a drink or a meal etc. I think exchanging some shooting locally would also be an excellent idea too, you know; pigeons for fox, wildfowl for rough/game, stalking for bum sex, you get the gist.

If anyone is interested in being included in the list for next year please PM me. There may be a space or two next year or who knows, with enough interest we could always do an autumn one.

Edite, bibite, gaudete, nam cras moriemur.

I did try to get there last year and made contact but the meet coincided with a long-planned holiday.

Not referring to myself of course but in keeping attendance small to suit the venue your group may be missing out on meeting some PW members who may like to attend and who may be interesting, knowledgeable, good fun and possessing many other assets beneficial to the meeting. Not everyone would need accommodation.

I can't find any messages from you.

Let's take this to PM I think.

I would like to learn more about your beneficial assets ;)

The entrance criteria is pretty exclusive I suppose, something of a cross between The Gurkas, The Escoffier School, and Cambridge Footlights.

Oh no, grooming again!

We all bring different skills, nobody has yet beaten my record for double headed axe over-arm 67 Metres into an apple - 3 times in a row. A skill I learned at school in Peckham.

I think you are missing the point to be honest...we have to limit numbers due to accommodation available and also health & safety reasons as the venue is a dormitory block in a charitable holiday location for under privileged children. The adjacent dormitory is often occupied on the dates of our stay.

The event was open to all and sundry in 2012 and 2013 and several members who will remain nameless made a commitment only to pull out at the eleventh hour after bookings had been finalised leaving no time for the organisers to find replacements yet still incurring the minimum charge for the venue which then had to be reallocated amongst the final attendees..so in short they cost us money.

Members not wanting accommodation are welcome to come along but as we are charged for the facilities and not necessarily the accommodation would have to contribute proportionally.

It certainly is exclusive as the venue would not normally be available to the general public and we cannot cater for large numbers.

If anyone is serious about attending next years proposed gathering then they should make contact with me or Thunderbird if however there is significant interest we would have to try and find an alternative venue which would undoubtedly be more expensive and very difficult to do.

Well said Mike, it would be a great shame if we had to change venues. In every aspect other than space it is perfect. The owners are friendly, accommodating and tolerant. It is in remote, stunning country side. It has great facillities incliding a large well equipped kitchen. We can barbecue, butcher deer, light camp fires, shoot air rifles, get drunk and generally go feral for the weekend without bothering anyone. Giving all that up is a big ask.

I think we are well aware that we don't have a monopoly on good company. It wasn't widely advertised this year precisely because we knew we were near capacity and didn't want to dissapoint. However a few people who haven't been before did ask and were squeezed in - Jdog you might have been too if you'd asked.
