marshy pete
I recently brought a 16g non ejector. Agter I fire it the cartridges are really hard to extract, they are loose enough before discharge so I am guessing it's down to case expansion? It is chambered for 70mm and I've tried various makes and sizes including 21/2 inch and they all seem equally stuck, anyone have any ideas why and what I can do to cure it? Gordon R
I assume the chambers are spotless. If not - it might be worth some a phosphor bronze brush - soaked in barrel cleaner - attached to a drill. The shells may be sticking on a roughish surface. If the barrels are spotless - I can't offer any advice.
marshy pete
The chambers seem pretty much spotless but i will try the /brush/barrel cleaner/drill effort......thanks
welshwarrior
It does sound like rough or possible oversized chambers the former being the most likely. Clean them hard with phosphorus brush and barrel cleaner, then retry possible lightly lube the cartridge with a soft beeswax but this is not a longterm fix. Gunman
Don't know this gun , there are several reasons for your problem but they really need to be checked by some one who can measure the chamber size and rim depths .
marshy pete
Thanks gunman, I will try the "hard" clean and if that doesn't work it's gunsmith time
Underdog
I had an English gun once that had a very slight ring close to the breech in the chamber. Certain cartridges would shape and fill out to this ring and then not eject. It was so slight I felt it before I saw it!
marshy pete
I've had a fairly good root about and it feels pretty smooth but should get a chance to try it out again tomorrow after its deep clean.... What did you do about the ring?

What did you do about the ring? Nowt. I just used shells that ejected. My as new Uggie SLEJ would not eject well at all but the chambers were very rough, they are a budget made gun, I polished the chambers with a mop of cloth and fine wet and dry paper in a drill until smoother. Made a huge difference to the ejection! In fact I did the whole barrels and chokes, it does not get leaded up too bad at all now! U.
