fenboy
Anyone use Peterborough game ? After getting fed up with only getting 20-25p for a pigeon and haveing to take them a few miles as well as the game dealer not acepting frozen, I decided to try them . At 40p a bird frozen and collected sounded great. Anyway I phoned up and they came out to collect early the next week . I was out shooting at the time when they collected so the driver dealt with my wife. I was expecting that they would load the dead birds in trays , but the driver had a moan that I should provide the trays and that he does not have any , he eventually took 130 pigeon away in dustbin bags the wife provided ! Now I do have a few trays that I use for taking in fresh birds , so really my question is if I use my own trays can I expect them back before I need them again , how does the tray thing usually work with them ? Yes I could phone and ask but I am at work at the moment , and cannot phone from here !
blade
When they collected from me they just chucked the pigeons in there van no trays.I take them in now only 16 miles and you get a cheque straight away when they collect iv waited up to 2 weeks for cheque
sitsinhedges
The biggest problem with Peterboro Game Company is getting them to collect, you can wait several weeks if it isn't convenient for them which isn't helpful if your freezer is full and you want to shoot more birds. That said, the drivers have always been friendly and try to be flexible and having them collect means you're not spending all the money you get on fuel to deliver them. I've only once received a cheque without having to ring and ask for it but that isn't a problem to me as I know I will get paid at some point. They pay 40p collected per bird against the pathetic 25p delivered that our nearest dealer at Flore pays delivered which effectively amounts to zero once fuel is deducted. Without Peterboro Game it would hardly be worth carrying the birds off the field. I carry my birds out to the van in tubs and dump them in the back and I've seen the vans loaded up almost like a skip with dead pigeons at certain times of the year, never in trays. fenboy
Thanks I had been warned that it can sometimes be difficult to get paid , but as long as I get it at some time thats fine , I will phone if I have not recieved payment in 4 weeks When I phoned to ask for collection they said they would let me know when , but on this occasion I only got a few hrs notice (via a message left on my home phone) It could be difficult if its always like that as both my wife and myself work different shifts so often there is no one home.
