HDAV
Can you get too both sides of the hedge? I've used a tripod ladder for this task...... Now have a long reach trimmer sooo much easier quicker and safer. 8ft is fine for my kombi it's 3m long at full reach! HDAV
Problem was the legs sinking you would need boards underneath its better than a straight ladder, the one I used had adjustable legs that had a webbing strap the better ones are the A frame zargees but need flat level ground difficult in a mature garden.... Konnie
thanks for the info. I will be on soft ground that is a little uneven was hoping to eliminate the need of ground boards, as its a big job all told inside and out makes well over half a mile of hedge at 8ft high not me best summer job

southeastpete
Me and my dad would tie a broom across the top of the ladder so we could lean the ladder right against the hedge. Surprisingly sturdy, though i suppose it depends on your hedge. Though at 8ft by 4ft it should be fine.

loriusgarrulus
What about a lightweight scaffolding type platform. Once is is up you could move it along with 2 of you and do a section at a time. These look interesting too TUBESCA-ZARGES some on Ebay. Konnie
took the gamble and brought a tripod ladder from nawaki (think that's the spelling) very helpful got to say best bit of kit I have for the hedges.used to be up 4 legged ladder wobble down readjust up down etc. this one in place rock steady. took some time to get used where to place it to get easy cut but well impressed, just make sure get right height for a majority of your cutting worth the money for safety
