jimmyb79
Bit of an update - set the challenger press up today and loaded 20 rounds through it. Clearly the lee loader is no good for my gun as every round I've loaded in the press loads and cycles absolutely fine. Anyone want to buy a lee loader? Hardly used! Underdog
I have heard of a few folk having to turn a bees whisker off the base of the Lee Loader so it sizes a wee bit more.
snow white
Try useing the soot of a candel instead of a black marker show better
kent
When I look at the cases they do all seem to be flared a little, and I don't think there's a way of fixing that with the loader kit. I'm assuming the bullet seating die I've got with the press will 'unflare' if that's the right word! One question though, with the six rounds I've already got loaded, if I run them through the bullet seating die, will that potentially fix those rounds? No it will only seat the bullet deeper, I doubt that's the issue here but I am not looking at it. To fix what you have you need to pull those bullets and bump the shoulder and case walls back a tad I am guessing and you cant do that with the bullets in. Don't fret even people who have been at it from Adams days pull rounds they aint happy with the tools will be used again lots of times. You need a kinetic hammer and just a note "you need a blooming good belt or so on a good hard surface to pull rounds -So don't be shy with those blows now"
jimmyb79
Cheers bud - bullet puller next on the shopping list! I've had far better results on the single stage press with full size die- won't be using the loader any more.
Dougy
Cheers bud - bullet puller next on the shopping list! I've had far better results on the single stage press with full size die- won't be using the loader any more. If you get a kinetic hammer type i found that if you use BT bullets ie; vmax or nosler bt it may damage the polymer tips, to avoid this i pushed a small piece of foam down and it saves damaging them. You will need to give them a fair few wacks if you have tight neck tension. I use a large piece of timber to wack mine on, about 48"x10"x6"
jimmyb79
Thanks Dougy, I'm not too fused about rescuing the rounds as there's only six, but I hate having bullets I can't use sat in the safe! I'm using nosler silvertips so I will follow that advice.
