jgguinness
Hi all. Interested to know about recoil dampers in shotguns. Are they common, when were they introduced etc etc. Do SBS have them? Cheers Jonathan
figgy
Never seen a sxs fitted with recoil dampers as they are normally fitted to clay guns which fire high volumes of cartridges. Figgy
jgguinness
Cheers figgy. I had never heard of them, and someone was on about the recoil on a SBS and recoil dampers were mentioned. Jonathan
figgy
Recoil will be more on a sxs as it will be a light gun with a small narrow stock that your shoulder feels a lot more and game carts are heavier loads in general than clay carts. Best bet is a slip on leather but pad to reduce the recoil, they are cushioned and spread the force over a wider area. Gun fit and mount have a lot to do with perceived recoil. Gordon R
Never seen one on a SBS at the end of the stock. No reason why one can't be fitted inside the stock. It would seem a sensible move.
HDAV
Try an isis pad before going for the whole damper system they are rather effective and once blacked don't look too odd! stock dims can be an issue with a SBS as often designed for smaller users. http://www.recoilsystems.com/greenpad/green.asp
