bunny_blaster
Saturday came and saw me leaving the house at 9.00 in the search for pigeons. I drove around all my known cut barley and rape fields but found very few feeding. No matter where I went I hardly saw a bird flighting anywhere. Eventually I came back to a field of rape stubble I had checked earlier and found about 300 birds on it. The usual flight line had started up and a few birds were breaking off to join the others, most however continued into the distance. I pushed them off and set up. From the off it was obvious the birds didn't want to know. I changed the pattern several times, tried just statics but nothing I did got them properly interested. I managed to get some to decoy but I called it a day 18.00 as it died off altogether. I had covered 70 miles in my search and picked 78 birds. Today Gaz joined me along with his other half for her first day at the pigeons. Cat has been shooting clays for a number of months now and felt confident enough to take on the real thing. They arrived at mine mid morning and after the usual full English we headed off to look for birds. Both myself and Gaz wanted to make Cats first days pigeon shooting a good one but again we struggled to find any decent number of birds. Eventually we came to a field of barley stubble with a steady flight line into it so we set up and waited. We found the birds to be very decoy shy and again struggled to get the birds to commit. Cat had a few shots at the birds that did decoy and eventually had her first pigeon down which we were all mega pleased with. The afternoon went on and we shot a few more. We eventually called it a day and picked 49 birds. We had covered a further 55 miles. It was a great afternoon and made even better with Cats first pigeon. pigeon controller
Well done Ben , Gaz and Cat great result for a lot of miles . The food table for the pigeons is so great in our locality at present and it's difficult to locate them also the fair weather shooters are out spooking birds with their set ups. Again well done great result.
