aga man
Typically, as i had promised a mate some pigeon decoying this sunday, i struggled to find a promising situation despite being spoilt for choice on Rape stubbles. I decided to return to stubble which had pigeons on it during the week. On arrival the field was barren and had been disced twice and a third of it spread with muck. Never the less we set up in the hope a good decoy pattern and strong south west wind at least some birds would play ball. From the off things were slow but a good spread of decoys including two magnets and flapper seemed to convince any passing birds. I had to leave my mate shooting alone for a while i was distracted across lunchtime. Although the sport was far from hectic with very little pigeon traffic, i was happy that my mate got some shooting. we packed up at 5pm as things slowed and flies became a pain. We picked up 51. Oh yes and my distraction at lunchtime was a nice cold pint at the pub where i met a guy called JDog off the forum. We put the world to rights for a while, then we headed back to the field where JDog sat and watched and made us very nervous. Sadly nothing much happened while he watched. I cannot tell you how nice it was to meet JDog, he is every bit the gent i imagined he would be. He didn't even make fun of my broad Hull accent. JDog
The field which aga man chose to shoot looked very unpromising indeed. Two week old rape stubble most of which had been spread with cow muck. However his field craft and local knowledge won the day and to shoot 51 in those conditions was very commendable.
