Had a Winchester Model 12 'Goose' take down gun some years ago on S1. It was choked Full and had a non-ribbed barrel about 6 foot long (seemed like it) complete in it's original leather, canvas and wood motor case. Dated back to the early '60's I think.

Eventually sold it to a bloke in Cork; have regretted it ever since. :sad1:

I always used to fancy owning a marlin goose gun but never got to have one. Did anyone use one or still have one in the cabinet..If it fits as they had 36" barrel.

A mate of mine in the early 80's used one for shooting foxes, it was a fair killing machine, but one ugly gun it was.

Quite right, mags have to be welded to the frame. Detachable mag makes it a sect 1.

Mossberg do one too, also a 3 shot b/a 3"mag, not a 36" barrel tho.

A model 395 kb.

It has a poly choke barrel. I love mine, a bit ov a novelty, but its going wildfowling this season!

With a bit of practice, a quick follow up shot is no problem, easy to hammer a pair on the skeet range....not every time, but could just be me!

There was a really mint one on gt not long ago in Kent iirc. And it was on a sect 2. Ticket.

I had a 10 bore goose gun, had the mag welded in place to stay on standed shotgun cert. Was like pointing a scaff hold tube !!!! The can be had silly cheap, if you can find one. !

I've had a Marlin 10 for 15 odd years now and love it. I did lop 7" off the barrel to make it more pointable though (and to get it in the cabinet :whistling: ) It's surprising how quick, with a bit of practice, you can get the 2nd & 3rd shot off. Good effective weapon in my opinion and never jams like them old auto jamming machines

Now you have brought it up I owe the loss of my three front teeth to my old Marlin !! Took a swing on a duck passing my left shoulder ,did not clock it till itwas way past ,just threw the gun up as you do but did not get it tucked into shoulder and with the recoil it slid right pass me mouth clouting the teeth on the way ,did I get the duck ?? heck no but spat blood for a good half hour and had a job to speak for the next few hours !!! (Some think that was a good thing !!! )

Well at one point the local countstabul called round and told me he thought the marlin should not be allowed ,I pointed out to him that it was on my firearm cert as it had a removable mag ,he said good as i could fit one in that holds 10 or 12 carts I did point out that it might show up a bit if I decided to rob the loacly post office with it as first I might need help to lug it in with the 12 capacity magerzine due to all the extra weight and then it might be a job to hide it under my coat as it is a bit long !!! all said with a smile on my face !! I dont think he knew I was joking as he did not take to kindly to that reply !!!! Anyways times moved on and Alan Meyers was looking for a marlin so gave him a ring and he took possesion to use it as a fixed pressure and speed tester for cartridges he was making at the time ,was glad to move it on but in some ways do miss the old beast as it had a certain charm !!!!!
