Pigeon sniper
Hi guys I've had a look through the wildlife act a it says that you can't shoot any birds apart from pest species under the general license with a semi auto shotgun and that in Northern Ireland you can't use a semi auto to hunt any living animal. I this true as I've always shot ducks and geese with an auto.

If your conditions just say avian pests then you can't shoot rabbits and rats
Guest stevo
your force maybe different , but mine just says " pest control " - no ground game
brett1985
if were all smart (which i presume we are?) we all have AOLQ listed in our conditions anyway, which negates the need to have seperate conditions for feather and fur. the only seperate condition on my section 1 s/a is for clays. Pigeon sniper
Thanks guys, would it be possible for a pointer towards the exact legislation to pr *to prove this to a friend? Thanks
The Mighty Prawn
your force maybe different , but mine just says " pest control " - no ground game Mine says 'vermin control' equally vague as we've already had the chat about what is legally vermin and nobody knows! I assume this covers me for all general licence stuff, rabbit, rats, mink, squirrells, quite a bit really

HW682
Thanks guys, would it be possible for a pointer towards the exact legislation to pr *to prove this to a friend? Thanks You have already read it (Wildlife and Countryside act 1981). See section 27 "Interpretations" which defines the following: “automatic weapon” and “semi-automatic weapon” do not include any weapon the magazine of which is incapable of holding more than two rounds;
Scully
When I applied for my second S1 my good reason was rabbit control, which was refused, so I re-applied quoting the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and was granted. Mine simply says, avian species as per the terms and conditions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which according to my FEO at the time, does not cover rabbits, 'but we know everyone does it'.
