Mr pigeon
Hi there, I have just bought myself a browning 525 20 bore. My question is, I was told by someone that since moving from a 12 I should now go down a choke size so the 20 patterns the same as the 12. Is this true? I have 1/2 and 3/4 in my 12. Cheers
welshwarrior
1/2 choke is 1/2 choke in any guage. It's the percentage of shot in a given circle at a give range, the gauge can't change that percentage all it can do is change the number of pellets in the pattern. 21grams of 7.5 is the same from a 12, 20 or 28 bore. It's rubbish, and simply means that the choke in the 20 bore is tighter than the 12 it's being compared with. The nominal boring dimensions (the reduction in bore diameter) is different in any given bore for any given degree of choke.
hawkfanz
I use the same choke combo in all my guns that includes my 12/20/and 28g.
