timmy1146
On semi auto and pump shotguns. Apart from the barrel, what else has to be proofed? I've heard that any pressure bearing part has to be marked, what, by law is a pressure bearing part?

timmy1146
Receiver , Bolt and barrel , Magazine tube stamped if restricted. If i just needed a bolt to be proofed, how would that work?
Gunman
You have to submit the whole gun as it would be considered as are-proof ,You can not proof an individual part .
timmy1146
What if it was say an after market bolt that is designed to just drop into an already proofed gun? Would it have to be propfed in the already proofed gun?
JJsDad
If the replacement bolt has already been submitted for proof and marked accordingly, which it almost certainly will if its from the European market; then no the gun will not need re-proof. If however its from the USA it will not have been proofed in a way that is acceptable over here. Using a replacement bolt or barrel in a gun is not actually illegal, however, selling or passing it on in an un-proofed state will leave you open to a charge of selling an un-proofed firearm. I would try and find out if the item has been proofed before purchasing.
casts_by_fly
Timmy, It might just be easier to give a few more details of what you're trying to do than just ask 1 line questions. It sounds like you have a broken semi auto that you want to sell on, but want to fix it first. rick

Don't think there are any UK rules of proof now.......................................Proof is now controlled by European standard (CIP) rules! timmy1146
What i'm curious about is having a benelli bolt copied and CNC replicated by a local machine shop. If someone took interest and wanted to buy one of me, how could i just get that single part proofed. I take care of my guns so i'll never break one unless it breaks itself. JJsDad
You would have to send your gun to one of the proof houses with the new part fitted.
timmy1146
Thanks! Anyone know what the proofing fee's are?
