hotaeroman
I have just purchased a used Franchi 712 semiauto , and it does not appear to be a three shot , in that when I insert a second shell , it does not go into the magazine but sits just below the breach .It cycles perfectly but will not allow a third shell to be inserted .Is it a two shot version or is there something wrong with the magazine , or perhaps it needs adjusting / repairing ? I have had a previous Franchi semiauto and it was a three shot so I am a little confused !!
TDS
Check the magazine tube to see if it has a restrictor plug installed
HDAV
What size shells are you using?
hotaeroman
I have put 68 to 70mm shells thro it , from 28 to 35 grammes , all have cycled perfectly , it just won't load a third shell into mag tube .
wraivi
If it is a sec 2 weapon, you are only allowed 2 in the mag & 1 up the spout. 3 shots total. Any more and it is a section 1 requiring an FAC.
HDAV
Indeed only 2 in the mag, load 2 into mag rack action then you can put third cart into mag so have 2+1 but can you get 2 into the mag? If not then strip it down. Edited September 26, 2014 by HDAV
hotaeroman
Correct ,to be clear I cannot get two shells in the mag tube , it will only load 1 in the breach and 1 in the mag tube
HDAV
Strip down and check there isn't an old rusted cart up there..... your original description was a bit confuising
figgy
It will be set to clay shooting standard of only two carts, some countries insist on this. It's mag restricted plug will need cutting to allow the second cart in the magazine. Figgy
stu nesling
never heard of a 2 shot, but could be proved wrong.especially if it has a non std mag tube on it.(as per figgy) take off the forend and then the barrel. on the end of the mag tube is a circlular internal type of securing split ring that holds the bits in. remove that carefully........the spring is 4 foot long and flies well lol. you should have a spring,a plastic restrictor that sits in the end and the plug for the end of the spring where you insert shells. give it a good clean out. iam guessing there is rust stopping the plug (shell end) on the spring going any further as it is a very close fit. pm if you need anything Edited September 29, 2014 by stu nesling
figgy
My new A300 Xtrema comes with the plug to restrict the mag to one cart and one in the chamber. Figgy
stu nesling
that does make sense figgy especially with more and more people using autos for clays now. does it also come with a std one for 2 in the mag?
figgy
Yes that's fitted as per uk standard spec, the other one is included to make it one in magazine for clay shooting. Figgy
