Can you carry on using your gun’s if your Licence renewal is delayed?

I will soon be putting in my renewal form for my SGC/FAC Licences which are due at the end of January. If it is late coming back will I still be able to shoot or will I have to stop once it gets to the expiry date?

Does anyone know what the waiting time is in Hertfordshire?

10.51 If a certificate expires before a renewed certificate has been issued and the certificate holder has behaved in a reasonable manner returning the forms in good time, a temporary permit (section 7 Permit) should be issued by default. With regard to renewal, the applicant may submit a photocopy of their certificate and retain the expiring certificate in order to be able to buy ammunition.

From The Manual off Guidance 2014.

Always worth asking your FL what their expected turnaround is ...

If it expires before you have your new cert you can't use or even posses the guns! You'll need to store with an RFD or apply for a sect 7 temp permit which does not allow you to use or purchase ammo only posses

+1

This is what my FEO advised me.

Sorted. Send in a photocopy and keep hold of your actual tickets. :good:If you still haven't received your renewed tickets with about a couple of weeks to go, I'd be requesting a temp' one. They cannot refuse to issue a S7 permit if needs be.

With my renewal letter it stated that if paperwork was not received by a certain date they couldn't guarantee to renew before expiry, and if that happened guns would have to be lodged with RFD I think you sending paperwork late is the only time they can legitimately refuse a sect 7

That's fair enough; I'm not disputing that. The applicant has an obligation to fulfil as do licensing.
