webber
Sundays are best for me and a few other members. I have not shot at Worsley for many years. How well patronised is it on a Sunday? Kelbrook is not too far, and not at all crowded on a Sunday. webber

naddan28
Sorry to sort of hijack the thread but what is the shooting like your way? I might be moving to Warton, Preston next july for a year and wondered what the shooting was like? I am also hopefully finance and other things permitted, planning on using the year to master the art of SG's and hopefully if poss get my SGC alongside a couple of SG's. If I end up your way I will let you all know, as I will need some friendly faces! As you can see from my location its a long way from "home" and I have only ever been to Norfolk once (when 12) and blackpool for a 2day job interview. So really only spent a week or so north of london in my entire life, so will be expecting a MASSIVE culture shock.

Naddan28 - not badly served at Preston:- Rishton - very good targets, superb food and really nice people who run it. Bobbin Mill - Skeet and Compak Dolphin SG - Sporting and DTL. Food and decent targets. Blackpool - which is actually near to Preston and some way out of Blackpool. Very good Sporting targets and food. Kelbrook and Worsley - not my favourite grounds. Both on clay counters. 30% of Worsley's targets face directly into the sun. Kelbrook is a massive ground where the shooting has been condensed into a very small area. At one stand, you could shoot targets from the stands at either side. Toplands Farm, Woodplumpton, Preston - Decent sporting and food. Brindle - good 50 bird sporting. A6 gun club - DTL, ABT and Skeet - food and first class competition level targets. Moorcock at Clitheroe, plus another just over the road. There are quite a few more. naddan28
Basically, I am taking a year out from my degree to work for BAE Systems as a accountant. At the mo I have a list of places to choose from and warton is a third of my list, which after dropping off glasgow and portsmouth becomes 3/7 of my list! What is your FLO like? I want to get my SGC but will prob be in a rented houseshare, is that going to be a major problem? The only good thing with the house share is little bills leaving me a healthy disponsable income to get some clay lessons, gun, safe and SGC. It will all depend on whether my housemates mind the guns and also whether the FLO has a problem with me applying for one due to moving in a year and sharing a house? What is 15k like for a salary in your parts? Good or bad, I know down where I live its pretty crappy due to housing costs but I think the are a lot cheaper for you lads! Another plus, is due to the hugeness of the site, at some other sites employees are allowed to shoot air rifles etc at rabbits after work. As obviously moving away means all my permission completely dissapearing for a year so no shooting
