hydraulic im sure,,she said she felt some resistance when depressing the clutch pedal, then whilst changing through the gears, the engine revs high, suppose it could be a number of things, release system, disc linings.or diaphragm spring??? :/

I've no idea, I was pulling the plonk with my question, I work in science, these manly things go straight over my head!

Hope you get it sorted, sounds expensive. If you need any help on pharmacology, in particular analgesia, I'm your man.

Check the hydraulic clutch fluid to make sure its full, if so check for any leaks in drivers foot well (master cylinder) as could be slave or master cylinder that's damaged.

will do mate,thanks

wouldn't care, but it flew through its mot on Monday, and she was thrilled, lol, now this has p"d her off a tad......

ok,ive just driven the car, plenty fluid in,its got no bite hardly, and what little it does have is right at the top,so you can hardly even stall it,i drove up the street, put my foot down and the engine raced like hell, otherwise its a very very slow pick up in speed if im gentle on the accelerator!!

Yep I would go with clutch as it's not a diesel it won't have a duel mass flywheel which used to cause a problem and it was very expensive. With the engine you have got I used to take me about a hour to do it and I think the clutch kit used to cost around £250 for a genuine one but after market ones would be around £130 ish mark hope this helps
