lee m
A good wildfowling friend of mine has just been left a few pounds by some distant aunt (lucky b******), he is thinking of buying a hoseboat which is currently moored in rochester kent, it is in a bit of a state but he wants to fix it up, he is a very good wildlife photographer, and wants to take it to norfolk on the wash, some body has told him that he can moor it any where he likes below the mean high water mark however this does not sound right to me, i do not wish to see this chap lose out, does anyone know anything about this? i think this is one for you fenland boys as i understand this is more of an east anglian way of life, advice please? marsh man
We used to have several house boats situated mainly on the north side of our estuary, but sadly there now all gone and down here the answer would be no you cant put one where you want to and with all the different stages you would have to go through I dare say it would be very hard to get the go ahead to moor one up permanently as Breydon Water is now looked after by the Broads Authority , English Nature , G Y W A and one or two others . I guess you would get the same problems up the Wash with the clubs and the different bodies who now control it.
ben90
I believe you have to speak to natural England about putting It some ware on the wash as it is a SSSI area.
Big Mat
If you stick it anywhere you like belong the high water mark on the wash, I suspect you would upset alot of people and be in for trouble. happy.plinker
Kenzie Thorpe's houseboat looked like great fun but as said nowadays probably impossible, permission from all and sundry and possibly maritime rules might apply now,be interesting to follow this one though, you never know a few phone calls might make it a goer. anser2
"Houseboat " on this forum is the person to ask , but I am pretty sure that on the Wash all house boats have to have a lease from the crown estate and no new leases are being issued but existing ones are being renewed.
