wingy88
Hey everyone Just another question i can't really find answers to on the internet. A Few of my friends have expressed an interest in coming shooting with me now i have my license. Can they just come and shoot with me at a clay ground or do they need a license to? thanks carl
HDAV
As long as clay ground has section 11(6) and are happy for you too then crack on Edited November 17, 2014 by HDAV
TIGHTCHOKE
No, but they could accompany you to a ground that has a section 11 (6) exemption and you have made the ground owner aware.
wingy88
Do the majority of grounds have that?
HDAV
Yes if it is a ground all cpsa comp grounds will, my recommendation is find a ground that does a cheap 25 have a go some are £15 that way they get some instruction ( your fairly new to shooting yourself?) many grounds insist on this for insurance and in some cases it's a police requirement
robbiep
A lot of clay grounds will not let non-SGC holders shoot, unless under direct supervision of their staff (which obviously costs ££), or unless the person has had a lesson with the ground in the past, and is judged by them to be a safe shot. Think about it. You might barely be safe yourself. The business (and they are businesses, first and foremost) has to ensure everyone's safety, as far as they can. As such, they can quite reasonably insist on non-SGC holders having some 'official' tuition or supervision, to look after other people there. Ask yourself the question too - are you REALLY, really competent to supervise an absolute novice, and make sure they don't do anything stupid ? wingy88
That's a fair point tbh. He been shooting before but your right he Prob does need a lesson. Just wanted to go to a few different grounds instead of the same one he's been going to
HDAV
Best thing to do is ring a few and ask
welshwarrior
Ring around most want their staff to have alook first make sure none of you are dangerous then some let you crack on. Some grounds observe in a more stand role if the know the SGC holder.
