darebear
grrrrrrrrr we have wireless, and it needs a reboot every now and again. not a biggy. however steve and i have noticed if we are both on our laptops on pigeon watch at the same time, it logs each of us out every time we click on a new thread. but if only one of us is on the site at a time, it doesnt seem to happen. anything we can do about this? or is it part and parcel of the joy and fun of modern technology? simonp
grrrrrrrrr we have wireless, and it needs a reboot every now and again. not a biggy. This can be normal, how old is the wireless unit ? Its a sign that it could be time to just get a new one. You can just get a separate wireless access point rather than a whole new router, if its a combined thing. however steve and i have noticed if we are both on our laptops on pigeon watch at the same time, it logs each of us out every time we click on a new thread. but if only one of us is on the site at a time, it doesnt seem to happen. anything we can do about this? or is it part and parcel of the joy and fun of modern technology? This sounds like a cookie issue. Are you both using the same login on the forum? or do you have one each ? If you are using the same login, then its the behaviour I would expect, if you both have your own logins then I would recommend clearing out all the internet explorer cached information, temporay files etc etc (Tools->Internet Options). darebear
stuart ~ shoot it? oh, it came close last night. was fed up of screaming out profanities. simon ~ we both have our own id's on pigeonwatch. if we shared one, the poor sod would never get a chance to post anything the wireless unit is about 15 months old but we have always had this problem as far as i can remember. and i frequently delete cookies etc so i doubt its that. looks like we need to try this seperate wireless access point thingymajig (ummmm which is what exactly?). rob ~ looks like we'll be giving it a go. cheers all. Well said darebare! Basically you can get a wireless access point which you can use to extend the range of your network or set up a different network sharing the interent access from your router via using a ethernet cable. This maywell work but it will cost a good £30+ and if its a prob with the router it wont be fixed really as your access point will be dependant on your router for its interent connection.
