query about the law

can anyone tell me what the laws are surrounding selling any animals you have shot. should it be pheasants/rabbits and the like, to local stores?

A friend of mine has a small produce shop,he knows I do the odd bit of shooting and was looking into selling a pheasant or two as a trial to see how it goes

Now I'm more than happy to help out, but not if it's going to land me in court or worse.

Maybe I'm searching the wrong thing, but I'm struggling to find anything about this. Also I live in Northern Ireland, not sure if there's any differences in the law between NI and the mainland?

Any info or advice greatly appreciated

One extra thing to think about is the terms of your shooting insurance policy. As I understand it, "recreational shooting" policies generally seem to exclude the selling of shot quarry.

Mark.

I've been through this with my local regulating bodies recently, you cant sell to any type of distributer i.e a shop, you can sell direct to point of consumption, this includes pubs, restaurants etc

You can do this without any form of registration, hygiene tickets or the like but the game must remain in fur/feather, if you want to process the game any further you need to register with the local authority who will check your equipment sterilisation procedures and prep areas but you still don't need any hygiene tickets or the like.
