Archery Question

My eldest grandson and Pigeon Watch "squab" Handlebar2 is big into Archery and doing very well at it too.

 

On his Christmas list he has a trigger, (to release the string).

Do any of you people out there have one for sale, or can recommend somewhere to buy one.

 

Any and all help and guidance gratefully received.

Any idea which type of release aid he wants? Wrist release, thumb release, back tension (unlikely), there are quite a few types out there. If you're buying new most of the archery shops will offer you advice on these. Custom built archery is the one most geared towards compound shooters but Bowsports, Chiltern archery etc. will all have a good selection.

I have spent thousands on release aids. It's hard to buy one without trying them as they all feel different in the hand.

Best looking on US websites as they are full of them - I tried one year before last on a deer target around 40 yards away with a hunting bow and it increased accuracy dramatically with a really controlled release. It was a wrist one operated by your trigger finger - Very light and reactive.

Thanks Matt, I will have a look.

You need to know a lot more about the subject before buying as there are many factors involved and some of the most critical are its effect on draw length requirements, d-loop needs, peep height etc and if done wrongly, will encorage incorrect posture and technique. Is he a trigger puncher or squuezer and regardless of it being a BT release that makes punching virtually impossible, does he shoot the release with correct back tension which he will find hard to exert if a wrist release is used as it places the hand a touch lower and furher over the shoulder.

It looks as if I have a lot of home work to do.
