mightyrover
A friend has just given me an old hw90 to see if I want to buy it. He says that it stopped working after he took the trigger guard off. I stripped it down and reset the trigger and it now clicks when the gun is cocked but that's it . I don't know if it is already cocked and the trigger isn't working but there is no real resistance when you cock it. The gun is at least ten years old. kyska
Have you checked the main spring?
fenboy
Have you checked the main spring? If its a HW90 there will not be a spring , they are gas strut powered , if there is no resistance to cocking it could be that the strut has had a leak and there is no gas to compress. mightyrover
is there any way of knowing if its not cocked before I strip it down further . not had much to do with gas rams.
fenboy
Not sure on the 90 , its about the only HW i have not owned at some point , on my 97 the safety catch will not operate unless the gun is cocked.

team tractor
It won't cock the safety unless cocked. It's a resettable trigger but still needs cocking to work
pernod
Found on another site... The Elite trigger on the HW90 is very good, but if you take the stock off, you need to cock the trigger before tightening the trigger guard bolts up, or the safety catch crushes the main sear. Perhaps your rifle has been damaged in this way.
