canthitathing
Distance from population centres. For shoots, you need syndicate members or paying guns. Yorkshire is also a largely urban population, with a considerable proportion of asian immigrant population, for whom game shooting is utterly alien. Environmental legislation. You can't just go and plough up the top of a hill of upland grazing to plant a cover crop. You need to jump through various hoops first, and even then, with it being on top of a hill, it isn't going to take as well. This has to be one of the most sweeping statements I've read on here in a long time. Get North of York and there's very little of anything like population centres until you hit Middlesbrough, which is 50 miles away. And that's just North Yorkshire. keg
That's where I live, there is a shoot about 5 mins from there and several more within 20mins.also a 500 yard rifle range at brockholes I beleive. As has been said, plenty round there to enjoy

AberFowl
I know of many shoots, commercial and syndicate run in Yorkshire. Warter priory, duncombe park, castle Howard, wykeham estates, scampston estate, cundall and bairstows, suttons...the list goes on. There is some magnificent shooting to be had around pickering/whitby/malton
Tallshort
Sounds like something I spotted when I moved from Nottinghamshire to Leicestershire. In Nottinghamshire you spot the odd one or two when out of a wlak but the whole of Leicestershire (at least where I am) seems covered in shoots and the little blighters are everywhere! Quite refreshing when I always had the impression shooting was in decine.
