Joshcup11
What cartridges would you all reccomend me to shoot out of my 3" Chambered 12 Gauge. Main quarry is obviously geese but id like something which isnt to heavy for ducks at the same time as being sufficent enough for geese. Thanks Josh
silver pigeon 3
Needs to be non toxic if in England, so that means steel, tungsten or hevi shot. Steel could be out of the equation if your gun isn't proofed for steel, especially if trying to find a goose load. If your gun is steel proofed and you decide to go down the steel route then finding a load that is good for both ducks and geese will be hard. For the geese I would be looking at 1's or bb and the ducks probably a 3.

Browning 425 clay hunter
I've not shot them yet but I've just bought a box of gamebore mammoth 3" 36g no.1s hevi-load steel shot for geese. Hopefully get to use them in the next day or two so will report back. ATB
Joshcup11
I have a box of Gamebore super steels,32g 5's okay for duck but are they strong enough for the geese?
BellySlater
I have a box of Gamebore super steels,32g 5's okay for duck but are they strong enough for the geese? No, i'd also look at getting your duck load to at least 3 if you are using steel
silver pigeon 3
I have a box of Gamebore super steels,32g 5's okay for duck but are they strong enough for the geese? Might be OK for close duck's, personally the smallest shot size in steel that I use is 4's and that is for close range over splashes. My normal duck load is 36g 3's. The general rule for steel is move up 2 shot sizes, so your 5's are the equivalent of 7's in lead.
motty
If I was to use an all-rounder, it would be steel 1 or 2. These will both kill ducks and geese nicely.

Joshcup11
correct me if I'm wrong but just checked after being out for a flight this morning and my chokes are not steel shot proof, gun is up 1600 or so bar but chokes aren't. I've been told that tungsten could still be shot through non steel proofed chokes?is this correct?
