I should have added:

Clays slow down during flight, birds don't

Birds dodge and kink about when they see you raise a gun, clays don't ,

A "visible chip" off a clay equals a dead bird, a feather off a pigeon often means going hungry!!

 

Having said that, it's all about hand-eye coordination and muscle memory, so any practise is good, especially if a coach can put old errors to bed.

 

Off to a ditch now, wish me luck!!!

I'm sorry, Mr rat, I think birds do slow down in flight and speed up, also. That's what can make them so challenging at times. I don't see many pigeons crash-landing when joining their mates.

Yeah yeah yeah, I think you knew what I meant - predictable slowing down of clays is what I should have said. Happy now?
