motty
Lead? You have time to calculate range, velocity and lead? Swing is important. Through the bird and keep going. Pattern kills. Swinging through the bird determines the lead automatically and shot string with a good pattern does the rest. I would think you are not continuing your swing on live targets - the most common reason for a miss, if on target and feet are in the right direction. I'm sorry, how does this work? fieldwanderer
Lead? You have time to calculate range, velocity and lead? Didn't I say "not just learning a set lead"!? Some people learn "maintained lead" some learn "swing through". Neither are wrong, just personal preference. I started out using maintained lead but have found, through playing with this trap, that I prefer swing through - though I've not exactly mastered it yet. For what it's worth, both involve keeping the gun moving and both involve a certain amount of guesswork; i.e. how much lead or how fast a swing, through experience we learn the correct amount of either for given situations (whether we realise it or not). Have you tried "The Method" when shooting crossing clays or Game, works well for most targets. Flycoy.
fieldwanderer
Watching the bird and letting subconscious do the rest? I have indeed, sometimes it works for me- most of the time it doesn't.
