OJW
Hi, Please could you give me your opinions on what a reasonable price is for a 100 bird day for 8 guns in the South East? Is it unreasonable to want to shoot for around £350 a day with or without hospitality? Or for around £32 per bird? At the more expensive end, what would you expect from a shoot charging £40 a bird? Please assume that any shoots in question are just nice little shoots, nothing famous or overly grand. Thank you for your insights.
TR1
I think that £32 per bird is a good average. The problem with a let day on a commercial shoot is that the charge for a 100 bird day is not really sufficient to cover the costs. A 150 bird day , with hospitality would be more acceptable. In a season like this year , with so much game about, then an end of season day could be had for significantly less , especially if excluding hospitality. Berettacocker
I've shot two shoots season gone 10 guns. One £30 per bird and nice buffet in pub in kent. One £27.50 per bird 10 guns fish and chips in a farm building in essex. Both good shoots first predominately pheasant and few duck. Second mainly partridge with pheasant. Both decent birds and cheap I think. Think if you pay over say £36 you should be looking at better quality birds.
Flashman
Out of interest, are you buying or selling a day?
rimfire4969
Obviously the shoots I use are in Cornwall and Devon but may be useful for a price comparison. I paid £280 for a 100 bird day we shot 97 and took our own lunch bird were ok and a few very good. I paid £380 for a 100 bird day with a pub roast after, shot about 105 I think birds were good. And I paid £34 per bird (£510) on a 120 bird day hospitality throughout the day was 5 star, our guns were even cleaned when we had dinner. The birds were stunning. I only do one posh day a season and do more of the rough and ready shoots.
OJW
Hi, Flashman I'm buying not selling. Thanks for the comparisons, the birds are sporting. Nothing super due to topography. Rimfire - £280 for 100birds is awesome value!!!
