Mungler
Okay, so then, what is "mounted" boar hunting? And just out of interest what would you use to shoot a wild boar - solid slug shotty or rifle and if so what cal. Cheers all. Mung
njc110381
Is it not on horseback? What calibre? A BIG ONE!
Lord Geordie
They USED to do it with Spears in the day of the Raj. The Chap would sit astride a horse and lunge the spear into the boar. Pig sticking it was called. Sure Mounted Boar shooting will be the same scenario though Guns instead of Spears LG
bobt
can they not just be holding hands? (its an old joke I know)
Mungler
******. I was going to have a bid on this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WTT-39-Mounted-boar-...1QQcmdZViewItem But the inclusion of horses rules it out. Nothing personal to horses but I hate 'em. Personally, I would prefer a day's horse shooting in France....

SNAKEBITE
Okay, so then, what is "mounted" boar hunting? Is it not where they put it on wheels and tow it behind a landrover?

As for calibres, 12 slugs are lethal (I think we all know that one) and a shot gun is a more natural tool to acquire running targets with. Rifle, most will say .270 +, but I would disagree and say the type of bullet and where you stick is far more important. My tip wold be speak to people who actually do it, rather than those who have just read about it on the internet I hope Will B doesn't see this one  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WTT-42-day-of-pigeon...1QQcmdZViewItem
SNAKEBITE
My tip wold be speak to people who actually do it, rather than those who have just read about it on the internet That my good sir is the best bit of advice I have heard in a long while. Any chance of getting it pinned at the top of all the sections?
