young airgunner
Hi I have been approached by a land owner with horse paddocks who wants the moles taking care off. Just wondered what sort of costs I should be charging. Have experience trapping moles, just not charging for the job Many thanks James
ben0850
Local mole catchers round here are anywhere between £3-£10 a mole...think that's why most farmers are doing it DIY given the explosion in the population this year. Why not trap the moles for shooting permission?
young airgunner
I'm a gamekeeper so have no need for extra shooting permission, and tbh it's only a few horse paddocks. I just had no idea on what sort of price to charge, thanks for your reply Ben
scotslad
Charge wot u need to charge, have u far to travel? How much time will it take? Got to buy extra traps? If u have to go back for repeat visits? Pro's and con's of charging by the mole, same as by acre or by time. Swings and roundabouts. Don't feel guility ur providing a service, i don't expect any other tradseman to work for free, how much would it cost if his horse broke a leg on a mole hill? Horsey folk can be quite paticular at times
CharlieT
£40 for the first, then £10 per mole or £20 per hour.
stubby
I used to charge £90 for 3 visits, payable on first day, setting traps, second visit remove any moles and re set traps third visit, remove moles and traps if people wanted cheaper, then it was £30 first mole plus £10 per mole after,

wymberley
£40 for the first, then £10 per mole or £20 per hour. Well, I'll be damned! +1. Until my knees packed up completely. Nice little earner - apart from 'business cards', an A5 card to pin up in the local garden centres and for the the local estate agents on a small commission - "It'll sell much better without the molehills in the garden, Sir" - worked a treat. Cheezy
Charge per mole or per visit keep it simple ie £10 per mole or £50 per visit for say 15 traps set per visit. or if very local to you a reduced cost They are paying for your expertise, remember that, not simply catching a mole
