Guest stevo
The more people that comply with these unofficial and unnecessary requirements, the harder it will be for BASC to put a stop to these practices, its as simple as that. So please take our advice. If you are a member and have problems then get us involved. totally agree David , however most are spineless when it comes to the police and there FAC and would rather not make waves , and just roll over . we don't have to be awkward , just being firm will be fine , there is just soooooooo much rubbish being touted about by various licencing authorities . if its NOT in the rules , don't do it simples
Bazooka Joe
As someone else has said : No. You do not have to give them details of where you shoot, or any membership details, or anything. For SGC is it up to them to show that you are NOT a suitable person. I've had my S/G Cert for 40yr ish, Durham have wanted to know at every renewel where I shoot...but that's Durham.
bostonmick
Unfortunately, if they request (rather than demand) the form, and state that not returning the additional forms might (rather than will) delay the grant, renewal, etc. then there is nothing that they can be taken to court over. . as you say they are not demanding but are hinting at your license may be delayed causing you to possibly having to put your guns into storage and not having the freedom to use what you should be able to.and this is because they have no reason for asking for this extra.so if nobody makes a legal challenge then the other part of my question still remains unanswered of those who have reported this to basc what is the percentage of successful intervention by basc. You are missing the point. They could say on the forms "You should, if at all possible, return these forms in person, wearing a clown uniform, and having gained qualifications to carry out the work of a clown in the circus. Failure to follow these procedures might delay your application." Doesn't mean it will. Doesn't mean anything at all. Just like their request for membership details for clay clubs, or the requesting a medical off everyone, willy-nilly. As such, you CAN NOT make a legal challenge, as they have carefully worded their forms to make it clear that they are not mandatory. In fact, if memory serves me properly, they re-worded their forms after BASC (and, I believe CA) threatened to take them to court.

bostonmick
So really no problem then if they are telling you that you do not have to do this. But the threat is still implied it could hold up your certificates. And as one post stated nine months wait I doubt anyone could justify that timeframe. At present lincolnshire are not adopting this as yet but obviously unchallenged all forces will do it within a very short time then it will become the norm. And then who knows what the next demands will be. Carman06
As far as I see it. If I am expected to abide by the laws to the letter then so should the authorities meaning doing what is required by the law no more. Timeframes are already very long in Lincolnshire. I was qouted they are telling everyone at LEAST 60 working days for any action and cheques are only cashed once a month now.

Breastman
When I went in to pick up forms as I had no printer, and they where very reluctant to give me them. They (or rather she a Licencing supervisor she said was her title ) said the med form was now passed by the home office( not). However for my sins mind was sent in 26/11/14 expires in a few weeks 27/03/15, they said they don't have it(was handed in in person on 26/11/14 ) odd the cheque was cashed on 03/12/14.So have to fill in all again with about 5 was before expires, asked about sec 7, got a shrug of shoulders. Contact them a fortnight before your expiry and remind them of what their 'commander in chief' told them here at 3.5; http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/crime/2014/FELWG_11%20June%202014_Minutes.pdf Several members of my clay club were sent the medical forms with their renewals last year, none of them filled them in and all of them got their tickets renewed in the usual (for Durham) time frame. I think one of them was just about to go over but after a few phone calls they pulled their finger out and got the ticket issued for the day of expiry.
