pigeonblasterian
On Wednesday i was told that some beans were being drilled at a farm i shoot but that they had to stop because of the weather. On Friday in got a message while shooting that a lot of pigeons were around on the farm that was planting beans. On Saturday i went for a recce and there were lots of pigeons dropping on the fields while the tractors were still working on them. So i sat and watched for a couple of hours and decided to have a go today Sunday. I asked another member if they would like a day out and so we arranged to meet. On arrival a good few pigeons were on the field they flew off and came back again. We had nine pigeons in the first hour of setting up and we were thinking we were doing well. Over the next five hours we only shot another ten birds. I had a good look on the field and could not find one bean on the top of the soil. I even dug down to find beans as i was doubting if they had been sown. They had done a good job sowing and must have only left a few which the pigeons had cleaned up. Still a few more beans to sow on the farm so i will have to keep an eye on it. We ended today with 17 woodpigeon,1 jackdaw and 1 crow. JDog
On good ground and on well prepared land in good conditions beans can be hard to find except on the headlands. On poor land after it has rained the drilling might be a rush job there might be more spillage.
