Hi navaras and pathfinders have a problem with cam chain snapping, then blowing the engine to bits. a local engineering company that specialises in these cars modifies the crank and other component's and fits a strong dual chain thus saving your engine. If you check out the Nissan 4x4 centre you will get a better idea

Many thanks. I was not aware if this. A friend has a 2013 model (pathfinder tekna) and never mentioned he did any modifications. Do I need to let him know? Thanks for the Pictures.

i am now c**ping myself as I have a navara Aventura which I am certain hasn't had the Mod.......... ohhhhhhhh noooooooooooo I will never sleep tonight,,, I have to drive back home from Glasgow to Cumbria tomorrow

Wouldn't worry about not having the mod mate, if the timing chain is stronger then something else will break, trade it in on the way home for an Isuzu :good:

Surely this is not a time bomb waiting to happen. I would not worry too much mate!

hi jeff8861,, home safely,,, really appreciate the good advice though as I didn't know there was a fault, I am looking at billcar for a double chain timing belt and best of all they do a decent chip as well,,,,,, bit of cash but better than looking for a engine replacement.... mine has 120k on the clock and does between 600 to 1200 a week so its worth looking into the after market timing chain.

really thank you for the heads up

Fairly sure the problems were with the D22 engine, which I think was changed to the D40 engine in 2006.

Had no problems whatsoever with my 2009 Navara which now has 110k on the clock.

Correct mate, and verified by nissan mechanics and engine testers at Shell, I know ,I looked into the matter deeply before buying mine

All cars " break "at some point , no matter how well maintained,
