Scully
Had a bit play on the clays today at the above ground with a few mates. Haven't been clay shooting for some time and really enjoyed it. Took my Grand European choked at 1/4 and 1/2 and my 8500 Trap gun choked full and extra full. Some deceivingly easy (to miss) targets and the strong wind made for some very tricky targets including a side on battue I just couldn't get to grips with. Anyhow, kept up with the others and even beat my nephew on one or two stands who shoots clays on a regular basis. Mate I went with hadn't been before but did excellent work with his W&S live pigeon gun. We'll be going again. Nephew is smitten with 8500. BlaserF3
The last time I went was a very sunny morning...............the five stands on the right hand side of the hill were just about impossible to shoot, every clay went directly into the sun, not very good at all. If we go again this coming weekend I hope that it's cloudy or overcast, just in case nothing has been changed to the layout.

We missed out on the pies last time, and got thoroughly soaked with the horizontal sleet as a bonus

If we go again this coming weekend I hope that it's cloudy or overcast, just in case nothing has been changed to the layout. It was around 2pm when we started so the sun wasn't a problem, but the wind at the top of the hill made the highest stand very very difficult, for me anyhow. The trap launches the clay almost vertical, but the wind was sending the clay further away on what is already a long shot to the extent it landed on the other side of the hedge, behind the trap. My nephew connected with a couple of them even with half choke, as did another mate, but I had no idea where my shot was going and didn't connect with any. Maybe next time. The rabbit is easy now as the unpredictability has been taken away by removing the rubber mat which formed a step, meaning you had to get on it quick to kill it before it reached the step, or either take your chances on how it would bounce if it hit the step. Still great fun though.
Scully
Was back here Saturday just gone. A mate was trying 21 grm Hull Comp X, and very impressive they were too. The 'step' is now back in the left to right bolting bunny, which completely kills your swing for the right to left looper either on report or as a pair. Great fun. The wind wasn't so bad this week, which made the vertical bird 'doable' but timing was everything. Had a local 'keeper with us who thoroughly enjoyed it. BlaserF3
Three of us went this Saturday, as the clocks had changed it was not too bad as the Sun was further to the right. Nice easy shoot compared to Blackpool.

I was going to say three and a toddler, but as he cannot shoot yet I just mentioned how many had a shot

He's taken his first few shots today on the modern day equivalent of tin can alley. He managed to shoot two targets with his pistol.
