MGMPEST
Right i have a slight dilemma, I currently own a 1995 discovery 300tdi XS, and i was thinking of upgrading it to something slightly newer 2002-2004ish, Theres a nice Mitsubishi L200 warrior 2003 down the road from where i live for sale, for £2k, i do like it but have heard horror stories. I would be interested in any pick up similar to this or a discovery 2. BUT do i spend the 2k on my current disco (gear box, power steering box, tyres, small bits of welding) or move the car on for something newer??? Harnser
I have had two discos over the years .A 300 tdi and a td5 ,loved both of them but they both cost me a fortune .would never buy another one . The last three trucks I have had have been jap pick ups . B2500 ,Navara ,and now a L200 . All far ,far better than the discos . rodp
Spent a small fortune on my disco 1 300tdi its a 97 and wouldn't be without it Had mine written off a few weeks ago, went out and bought another, same spec and same colour (slight shade difference). 300TDI auto my current disco (gear box, power steering box, tyres, small bits of welding) What exactly is wrong with yours? May not be as expensive as you think.
barney 66
Not sure on Disco prices but spent a small fortune on my 300Tdi defender 90 but 6 years ago I only paid £2925 for it and I know it would fetch a small fortune now, I have seen good discos for sale for a small fortune a couple of years ago but lost track on them now. What ever you buy it depends on condition and how it's been looked after, if it's worn out it will cost you whatever, take your chance second hand what ever you buy the good thing is with the 300Tdi is there is loads of spares about secondhand even cheap mot fail complete discos. MGMPEST
Thanks for the quick responses guys. rodp, the gearbox crunches 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. boot floor needs welding, steering box is leaking oil and is very vague and i need 4 new tyres on it, as the ones that are on it have been on a few years now. i do like the disco but just after something a bit more refined. might take this L200 warrior for a test drive. Thanks

al4x
Just be careful buying the warrior, it's cheap and a year when heads were prone to cracking. Most I would guess have failed and been replaced but it's still a 12 year old vehicle so buy with your eyes open. I've had 3 now so that's from someone who does like them. Guest rimotu66
The L200 whilst a good truck is not more refined then a Disco, I have had several Disco's over the years and now have a 05 L200 Animal (my 2nd L200) if I was buying for comfort and drivability then I would go for a Disco every time, the L200 up to 06 is very agricultural to drive (I have not driven a new shape one).
