Back to shooting - help please!

Hello all,

First of all, I've been lurking for a while now, absorbing advice about all sorts. It's a long time since I held a SGC, and I've also applied for my .22 lr, but things have changed a bit since I was last familiar with all things shooting.....

Brno have become CZ

There's a new "wonder calibre" (.17)

Hunting got banned!

I won't go on, I'm showing my age!

Anyway, having lurked for a few weeks, I thought I would say hello, and ask for a bit more advice. I will be going for a 452 American when my ticket comes. Have spoken to Mr Deacon and will be getting fitted out with a few bits and bobs. Why don't CZ do left handers with short barrels and synthetic stocks? Seems mad. Also, I have an inova torch which I quite fancy whacking on my scope as a lamping rig - any suggestions as to how to fix it?

Any other gadgets that I just can't do without?

Anyway, thanks for all the informative stuff. I'll be keeping a keen eye on this place.

Welcome to PW.

Useful items hmm.....

Harris Bi-Pods are a must with tilt. Deben Max Pro with Red & Amber filters. A decent knife for example Gerber and good knife sharpening kit. Decent sling and swivels. Scope covers (Butler Creek) And a decent pair of boots.

Thanks.

The general stuff (boots, knife, camo gear etc) I already have, I did a bit of keepering years ago and have still got a few nik naks - including a Kestrel SbS kept in a mate's cabinet when my SGC expired. I was thinking more of any new developments in the world of "must have" gadgets.....

As for the lamping thing, the missus bought me a fancy LED torch which is rechargeable, throws a hell of a beam and is only a bit bigger than a mini maglite. Just fancied seeing if I could get some rabbitting out of it.

Might be worth a go. It does 2.5 hours on a charge too.

Don't know if I'll get a bipod just yet, as a lot of my shooting is walking around taking oppurtunistic shots, with a bit of lamping thrown in.

I have to say some of this night vision gear looks interesting. Better tighten my grip on the wallet!

Thanks for the welcome.

cz and brno are two very much sepperate companies, they just happen to have two guns (model 2e brno) and 452 cz which are very similar. Sort of the same way mitsubishi colts are also the new 4 door smart.

brno do enfact still have an importer for this country and produce their own centerfire rifles, qute different to cz's

common missconception

hopefully what i have written is correct, or ive just made a fight **** of myself :good:

welcome back :good:
