Wookie
Ok, I've got the GF some Army issue green Peltors (she was complaining that the inner ear ones were a bit ****) so that she's comfy when we are out, but I'm now thinking that I need some new ear protection. The last time I was out I noticed that the inner ear jobs I have got kept coming ever so slightly out of position during the time at the trap and I came away slightly deaf in my right ear. So, I'm asking for recommendations for comfortable and effective ear protection that's not going to get in the way when I'm shooting at clays. I did see some that were inner ear sort that the bloke said were good for firearms teams, but since I'm a cynical ******.... Anyway, recommendations welcome. Cheer, Wookie
Dunkield
Shotguns = Sonic II's in ear types Rifle = Ear muffs, either passive or active - plugs are not enough.
Cranfield
This is what I have used for the last 15-20 years (hearings OK, just memory going ). http://www.noisebreaker.co.uk/
Wookie
I was looking at the Sonic 2s, but they seem to stick out a bit far. The EarPro EP3 ones seems a nice compromise. Anyone know if they are any cop? They are going to get used for clays pretty much exclusively. No FAC!
pin
Winter Peltor Sporttac's (ignore the price on these you can get them for 98 delivered PM if interested) Summer Sonic II's

Wookie
Do perforated ear drums count as hearing protection then?
MC
No apparently not, We have just had a noise survey done at work and because the workshop is over 95Db everyone in there has to wear ear defenders including the guy who has been deaf for 20years. I use Green Leopard in ear moulded ones for everything, they are well worth the money.

Sorry, just used to the dodgy green MoD ones and now I want some that are not going to get in the way of the gun and are actually comfy (well, the MoD ones were that...) Sundodger
You cant go wrong with Peltors been using them for jonks and my hearing fine. I do have hearing tests every two years due to the work I do. which helps as they will notice any significant changes. One of the things that i have noticed is I get sweaty ears yukk. pin
In summer they are too much, sweaty ears isn't a nice thing. On frosty mornings though they keep your ears warm. In summer earplugs are a must I think
Wookie
Well, I got some new plugs in the post this morning and with Si's Peltors to try out as well, it looks like this weekend is going to be busy! Ended up going for the same ear plugs as Kent Firearms use (apparently). Very comfy when used in the office, but no loud noises around, so I can't say how effective they are. More updates later over the weekend...
