viking
whilst my mate was doing the bulk head i went home for a couple of hours as i wanted to have a good tidy up, tried to roll the chassis out only to find it wouldn't budge so i had to jack it up and found 3 of the wheels wouldnt turn so off they came messed about with the brakes for a while and they were ok, wheels back on and out it went, let the tidy up beging as the garage was a right mess, . . . . . . viking
well today it took me nearly 3 hours to put 6 track rod ends in the drag link, track rod and steering tube, the track rod ends were a nightmare to get in, had to put the in the vice and use the 18" stilsons, then when id done them i realized id not put the securing brackets on couldnt get them in the drag link as it was just turning in the vice, think i need a bit of heat on them, anyway dot the others done and on, made a bit of a mess of them in the vice but that can all be put rite, . . . ditchman
very very nice....................get yourself a proper vice or you will loose a lot of street cred you are building up at present... on the by.........if you are having to use stilsons to turn the joints in and breaking vices ..something is wrong....cause when you need to do the tracking all you should need to do is slacken the clamp and turn the track rod by hand or gently by some other means......... la bala
very very nice....................get yourself a proper vice or you will loose a lot of street cred you are building up at present... or a finger or two
viking
that vice was never going to last long with it being 3" long with regards to the drag link, track rod and steering tube, yes it didnt seem rite it being such a problem to get them in, out of the 6 i think 3 went in fine by hand, one by hand but in the vice and the drag link is the one im having problems with, got them in half inch and thats that, there only £15 for a new one so i think i will just do that, then i might as well for £60-£70 replace them all

viking
some thing doesnt add up here, just looking for new parts and there all named different to the next, looking on ebay it seems i may have the drag link where the steering tube should go?? the 2 books i looked in, parts manual and owners manual never showed this bit of a bracket in this picture, i later found out it was for a steering damper, so is that the drag link or steering tube, its starting to look good tho'...........you are going to have something special at the end of all this .. i frigging hope so simon
