I was out on the look out for some stubble shooting and I had found a promising field but I didn't know who the farmer was ,so few phone calls and I had a name and address . found the chap and after a conversation it wasn't his field ,but I could shoot his farm if I liked and his brothers ,only 1000 acres rude to say no .Any way got the name but no contact details now, then Motty rang 'you free tomorrow , yes mate so plans were made an we met up the following morning I would shoot one field and Motty and his son would shoot another .Made a simple hide and with four dead birds set about trying to decoys some pigeons. The wind was quite strong and was coming from right to left in the only place I could set up , so decoys and rotary I put to my right a bit and waited for my first customers and they were not happy with the set up were skirting the decoys after a while I managed to shoot a few long ones and put up another rotary and instantly they came better but still very cagey and hard in the stiff breeze .Rudi had a lot of work as the birds came from all directions and as there was a large dyke behind me she had several retrieves ,but for a young dog she was very good . The clicker stopped on 71 .not quite sure how many Motty and his son amassed ,but his ol boy had a big grin on his face .Cheers mate your getting the hang of finding a proper field. :yahoo::good:WP_20150813_002.jpg

I was disappointed with the amount of birds, all told. Glad you shot a decent bag, Jules. I shot 24 and Ryan shot 10 with the .410 o/u. The bag would have been bigger if I had all the shooting, myself, but I enjoyed Ryan knocking a few down.

Jules - I'm sure we will have another good day or two in the next couple of months.

Yes probably mate ,I have some detective work to do I have spotted some bean fields in a very productive area I will try and get permission on them.

Well done chaps! Keep up the work......... Dont get much too much practice in ahead of the season though.... It will be unfair on the duck........ And you need to save some for me!

Brad I've seen you shoot and you don't need any saving . :innocent:

well done.......nice when you tweak the set up and you get rewarded.... :good:

Yes ,it is nice when it works, but that's how we learn, a good tip don't be lazy and think they are not having it ring the changes and try and make things happen . doesn't always work but you only know if you try .
