Magnet or not

All depends I had shot my record bag over peas we had the magnet out however it wasnt needed but then on other days it will give you a slight edge. It all depends on the situation.

I find the magnet works in the summer and autumn with the young birds but tend not to use it too much over the winter when the flapper comes out

Interesting. I find the total opposite. I tend not to use it summer and early autumn because I don't think the birds expect to see big flocks with lots of movement. So there is no need. Late autumn and winter is a different ball game. And on average I would use the magnet much more. However, I never go out without the magnet, because you just never know for sure what they might want.
