FalconFN
I had a dented ventilated rib that I wanted to sort out. I looked at special rib tools online, but they were pricey, so I measured the gap and looked for a wedge the same size. I found a butter knife that was minuetly thicker and gently tapped it in the gap - hey presto, the rib is back to normal. I wouldn't try it with a serrated knife though! LeadWasp
Yes my other half had dented her rib - a small oak wedge very gently tapped in did the trick. The trick with all fettling is not to go too far....stop when you think 'another one should do the trick'.

Does the knife not interfere with your sight picture?
FalconFN
I think of it as a tangential bayonet. When I get fork in there too I'll have a right proper multi tool.
subsonicnat
Trouble with doing in either way, is, you Could bring the Rib off the barrel. I did take the time to make a proper one,Well it does the Job. Spring is only a rubber O ring. Bit of metal and a saw and file, and a couple of hours. Prefferal to having the barrels resoldered..IMO. Whitebridges
A good gunsmith will tap these out for free if you know them well enough. Solid ribs on O/U game guns are a bonus are they not?
