Cranfield
nil, contact paypal to see if the money transfer has gone through. If it has, explain the situation and ask them if they have any details of the recipient.
lazza
Neil, if you payed with a credit card, contact the card issuer, & tell them the problem. They may be able to stop, or withdraw the payment. I have done this once before, when a company sent me a part for my truck which was faulty. I phoned the company twice, & wrote them a letter. they did'nt reply, so I stopped the payment.
neil
ood idea does anyone know what the slowest postal service is from the us?ie if he has sent it via this i may be worring to early :*)
Cranfield
neil, sorry for spelling you name wrong last night, but it was getting a bit late for me. Things that I have ordered from the US normally take between 10-28 days. This depends on their bulk and the way they have been sent. Your main concern should be, that the chap is ignoring your emails. Let us know how you get on.
lazza
Neil, if it's been sent by airmail, it should be with you now. If it's been sent surface mail, it could take 8 weeks.
Hammergun
Firstly, I would try telephoning the seller. You can get their details by asking Ebay for them if you bought the item through Ebay. If not, I think PayPal can do so as well. If you bought the item via Ebay, you should contact their customer services for advice. You can file a claim for non-received goods. I have done this before and it is easy to do. If you bought the item outside Ebay, you should contact PayPal as they have an insurance policy for non-received goods. neil
OK,update time, things aint any better :( .now when i try to email him the mail just gets returned to me(think hes cancelled his addy?and as i said b4 he no longer is a registered ebay user. What i have done is,contact paypal who only offer insurance for 30 days from the date of purchase :( and ebay who have yet to reply, but then it is the weekend, paypal have given me an email addy for the FBI :( :( and say they are the boys to contact about this,i was going to weight 8 weeks just incase it arrives but in the light of the cancelled email addy i think not  .Oh also contacted AOL (it was an AOL email addy and so am i) who were as much use as one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest
Cranfield
It may seem hopeless, but you have to continue to try every avenue suggested, even the FBI. This bloke could be doing this to a lot of people, hoping that nobody will be bothered enough to come after him. I would put pressure on PayPal, they know where they sent the money. Also go to your local Police and tell them, I know its a long shot, but it is a potential crime. Keep a clear record of everything, dates ,times etc. Keep us posted and the best of luck. Hammergun
If you payed by PayPal and used your credit card, many credit cards carry insurance against fraud, so I suggest that you also contact your card issuer to see if you can get your money back from the card insurance. If the seller takes your money and doesn't give you the goods, then this is without doubt a case of fraud!
rjimmer
Also go to your local Police and tell them, I know its a long shot, but it is a potential crime. Your local police will/should have a high tech crime unit. Ours is at HTCU@dorset.police.uk I send them a copy of all those Nigerian and Zimbabwean letters. Your local one might have a similar address.

rjimmer
Does hugh fearnley whittingstall actually live at river cottage?I watched the tv seriese (Return to river cottage) and really enjoyed it. Yes, he rented it for a while, but I don't know if he still does. I know a lot of the people who he had on the programmes. The old shool-teacher with the prawn pots at Ringstead, his wife was a teacher at the school I went to. He taught in the primary school just up the road. He went beating on a shoot next to Mapperton Manor where I used to go beating. Dawn Warr, who did some rabbit lamping on one programme, used to be keeper at Evershot where I still go beating. Royston Mowlem, who boat he went mackerel fishing in, shares some common ancestry with me, I think. I hope you noticed the proper way to cook mackerel, boiled in a bucket of sea water! That part of the programme was filmed on Chesil Beach almost opposite Moonfleet Manor Hotel. http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?clie...=500&height=310 My dad could remember when there were 10 fishing crews at Abbotsbury alone, during the summer months. My grandfather's brothers-in-law went off to earn some money in the Australian gold rush, so that they could afford to buy a seine boat. They came back with all their savings in belts around their waists and bought one. There are not many 'Lerrets' left now. There are only about 3 crews left on the whole length of the beach now, all part-timers. OOOPS!! Just read the forgoing posts!
