dad
lucky enough to be invited on a pheasant shoot monday on a friends 2000 acre fenland farm, the wind was horrendous and they were the fastest down wind birds i have ever shot at, but i now know where all our pigeons have gone 15 miles away to the fens there were 1000s of them long flight lines into the wind going back as far as the eye could see endless going on to maize stubble i saw 3 seperate lines to different fields plus lots of smaller gangs, we had 6 drives and could have shot pigeons on them all, few were more than 20 yds up. it was a privilege to be there on such a wild day and see it all. Penelope
On my shoot all guns put £1 in the kitty for whoever shoots the last pigeon of the day, if no pigeons are shot the cash is accumulated. So pigeons are very much on the menu. Man after my own heart! I just can't help myself if pigeons are there on a drive.
dad
my shoot rules are no pigeon untill the 1st shot at partridge or pheasant each drive so as not to spook them before beaters have done their job
